WELCOME
As it has been known, to coat a very hard DLC on a material, the material needed to be heated to a high temperature for the carbon atom to be highly adhesive.
This has limited its usage only to materials which can be heated to a high temperature. Therefore it has been a challenge to apply the coating at a room temperature especially for nonferrous and organic materials which can not be heated to a high temperature.
Thanks to the ion injection technology our company’s DLC coating has made the injection of carbon atom on to the surface of a highly adhesive film possible at room temperature. This has made the application of a highly adhesive thick film DLC coating to nonferrous metal (aluminum, nickel) and organic materials (rubber and plastic) possible. It is a substitute technology exceeding in performance to that of electro plating which allows us to make the foundation for “monotsukuri”, highly functional, highly adhesive, lower cost and at room temperature. Our company not only provides coating services but also consultation and coating equipment development.

PIA-DLC Coating Technology

PIA-DLC Coating Technology:
It allows for carbon ion to be injected by simply exposing plasma and applying a minus pulse voltage to the desired part (product). This injection will contribute to the coating of a highly adhesive and thick coating DLC to be equally coated to three-dimensional shaped parts at room temperature. Wear resistance, slide-ability, mold release-ability, gas barrier, are PIA-DLC’ s distinctive characteristics which can be coated on to not only metal but also to aluminum, rubber and plastic.

Suggested applications

Suggested applications:
In addition to the traditional metal(iron) materials, DLC coating on plastic and nonferrous metal such as aluminum, nickel, organic rubber have given the materials a whole new function. This includes wear resistance, slide-ability, corrosion resistance, preventing of sticking(mold release-ability) and gas barrier. By these enhancements, it is now possible to achieve the material’s longevity, lightweight and the prevention of pollution. The new technology has also made DLC coating possible on to micro metal molds.

Greetings

Greetings:

PIA (Plasma Ion Assist Company., Ltd.) was established as a venture business with the purpose to industrialize the plasma and quantum beam technology which we have developed through our experience with Ion Engineering Institute, Institute of Industrial Technology, and universities.
Our wish is for our creation; PIA-DLC coating technology, to be acknowledged as a basic technology and be spread world wide.

For the first two years we have been playing our roles mainly as consultants. Giving technological advice on plasma ion injection and PBII/D, supporting “monotsukuri”, and giving suggestions on various projects.
This past three years we have been working for the government’s research projects with a subsidy for surface modification processing technology, for the development of DLC’s high speed coating film equipment technology as well as market development. As a result, the coating of thick to extremely thin film, nonferrous metal (aluminum, nickel, titanium), rubber and plastic on to complicatedly shaped (3 dimensional) precision instrument parts, micro parts at room temperature. Furthermore, lower cost has become a reality in achieving mass production.
PIA consists of a group of highly skilled professionals who have had a long experience within the industrial, governmental, academic world. We will match the needs for our clients in product development, aiming for mass production followed by quality inspection. Based on this technology, we will support and assist small and medium-sized enterprises to a new level. In order to achieve this, we will positively and enthusiastically work side by side with our clients to get the product manufactured, and support the business, in hopes that at the end we will have something to contribute to the society.
